  The use of professional photos for high school seniors is an American tradition that began in the 1930s. The formal pose for boys then and now tends to be white shirt, tie and a tuxedo jacket. While the girls were draped in a fur-trimmed shawl and wore classic pearls, the fur has thankful be left by the wayside.
  The smile was added to the seniors faces around the end of World War II. Today senior photography poses have progressed into a mini modeling session.
