Templates are very useful; they enable the designer to create a layout that with little effort or design knowledge can be used to create compilations. Rather then creating a new, time consuming photo layout for each senior or family who comes in, they create a series of them that can be used over and over based on the subjects need. Then they can just open the template in their photo editing software, drag and drop the photos into the template, highlight and retype any text they want to change. And then hit print.
You can quickly change colors, add image layers and alter image layers, add text.

To use our products will require the addition of a suitable photo/ graphics editing program. There are any number of photo editing programs on the market, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. The major requirement needed is a program that works with layers and psd (not required for backgrounds) format. If you are Photographer, Print or Web Designer, or a Scrap booker, you’ll want a decent program you can use into the future.
We use and recommend Photoshop 7 or higher. The latest version is available at Adobe- http://www.adobe.com
If you visit the Adobe site you will quickly discover the disadvantage of Photoshop- the price. If you have a legal, registered, previous version you may be entitled to a significant discount for upgrading. Also you can often find older version on eBay, assumedly by people who have upgraded.
Photoshop Elements is not the same product as Photoshop and would fall near the bottom of our recommendations. As the name implies, it is only elements of Photoshop, not the whole thing. There are package we sell that will not be fully functional with Elements because of its limitations.
Some of the other options are; Corel Photopaint, PhotoDeluxe, Illustrator, ArcSoft PhotoStudio, and many others.
Gimp is a very powerful, free photo editing software package. It can be found at http://www.gimp.org
