Infant & Toddler Photos

The greatest amount of growth and change will take place in your child’s first year. Capturing this time and these changes in pictures is essential.

0-3 months

By the second or third week, your newborn is ready their first studio portrait. Though smiles on prompt are unlikely until the third month, this is a good time to have portraits that concentrate on facial features and their eyes.

 3-6 months

Smiles begin to come easier and the baby will be able to follow actions and hold up their head. The traditional tummy poses are good at this stage.

 6-12 months

Babies are starting to sit and pulling themselves up alone. A much greater verity of poses are now possible. It never hurts to have an extra shirt along, drooling and other back flow problems may make a change necessary.

Overalls, while cute, tend to ride up in the front and block the baby’s chin.

 School Age Children

Once your child reaches school age, you will have the opportunity to purchase pictures for your child's school. There are a couple of things to remember about school photos. While a professional studio is normally taking the pictures, the photographer is likely the studios junior associate. This photographer, do to the cattle call style session, has very little time with each child. Some studios brag that they can shoot 1, 2, 3, or even 4 children per minute. Imagine paying $50 for a photo package where the photographer spent 15 seconds with your child!

School often receive a part of the photo package price form each parent, raising the cost. Also the school schedules the classes base on availability, which mean your child may have the picture take right after gym class. Also some schools, do to concerns over lice, don’t allow combs.

If your school pictures look good then purchasing the photos may make since. But if you are not pleased with the school photos we recommend you take your child to a studio that will take the time to get it right.

Don’t wait, if you don’t get the school photo go have studio portraits done soon. It’s to easy to let time pass and realize your child has gone through a stage of childhood and you have no portraits to remember it by.
